About Jonah
Jonah Weissman is a multi disciplinary artist and musician, born and bred in New York City.
During his time at Parsons School of Design, Weissman explored what it means to be a child of the 21st century, growing up amongst the genesis of social media and the culture surrounding it. Raised by artists and creatives, Weissman has always been encouraged to make, resulting in a lifelong passion for art by the young age of 22. He released a self-titled electronic album in 2022 under the alias ‘audiovirtual’ and is currently working on a follow-up under a different name. He has been involved in various projects with communities in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, and is currently working on a group art show in the lower east side of Manhattan at Priv.y Gallery, opening spring 2025.
Jonah Weissman has held a lifelong interest in making marks and drawing, with a particular fascination for painting. Initially, Jonah's earlier work sought to innovate through digital art, convinced that painting wasn’t a groundbreaking enough medium. However, his current approach to art is deeply rooted in graffiti, influencing his line and shape structures. After completing his BFA at Parsons School of Design, he begun making work without the influence of an institution, and not surrounded by peers with their own practices. Jonah realized he could push the boundaries of art through painting, using graffiti principles to explore form and structure in his work.
